Trannys toast. Its out, looking for another one. Took us two novices 3 hrs to get it out. Have noticed other cars like the vette, v8 camaros and such also use this transmission. Are they identical? Gotta be a ****load of them out there in comparison to the viper qty. Figures, prior to yanking this tranny out, I knew locations of three trannys.
Also I see LUK clutch components really cheap on e-bay. Seems too good to be true. Car is a stock daily driver, probably always will be. Is this stuff acceptable for a car driven spirited (no track time) up to 10,000 miles a year? If not, what do you reccomend besides oem or do you think its not a bad idea to run with what I got and just stuff a tranny in it. I know, hard to say. Just asking.
Car supposedly has recent clutch work. Can see maybe 3/16" of clutch lining on each side if that means anything. Slave cylinder or whatever the thing is hanging on the input shaft with two hydrolic fittings isnt leaking. I dont have an issue with buying this stuff new but seems like a waste if it isnt nessesary. Seems lots of you guys change out these parts @ low miles and maybe someone has this stuff laying on their bench they want to get rid of. Shoot me a pm if you do. Would really like to get this up and going next weekend.
Sure would be easy to put plug wires on it now. Any reccomendations for a particular brand? Anybody on the board sell them?
