Need help locating a part that I found...

First of all, I dont know how to post a picture of it but I have one. Could someone help me on this? Maybe you can tell me how or I can email it to you and you could post it?

Second, let me tell you about the piece. I found it while I was putting on my headers. Dont know if it came loose, replaced and just ended up wherever it was, or I knock it out. It come from the drivers side, around the starter the best I can tell before it hit the ground. It is about 1" long and about as round as a pencil. It has 2 slots in it on each side at the bottom, and has 2 metal prongs on top that are broke off. The numbers A49 are on the bottom.

I think it's a kanuder valve actuator rod.

Ok, so I found out what the part was today. It come off of the starter, on the bottom, near the front of the engine. Is this needed? They are another one on the side just like it. What is this piece?
