Took in my Silver Mamba for its first oil change this morning and to repair a scratch on the door that was there when the vehicle was delivered (somebody looking at the car scratched it with their belt buckle).

Anyhow, I paid for the 3 year oil change plan. Now I just got a call stating that I needed to go and talk with their finance department because the oil change plan they set me up on (coupons) is for $55.00 per oil change and that the Viper requires $100.00 per oil change. They are saying that I will have to pay the additional $45.00 at each oil change.

How would you guys handle this? What position should I take at their finance department?

Should I tell them to shove the Viper up their a$$ and go get the new ZO6 Vette? (Just Kidding). :D

What should I do?

Thanks in advance.

Personally I would just tell them to refund the whole amount and have another shop do the oil changes. $100 for an oil change is just stupid.

Ten Quarts of Mobile 1 Syn will run about 40 dollars(if bought in 5 quart jugs; filter will run you about 6 dollars. Obviously, they did not consider the price of Mobile 1. 100 dollars is an extreme however; Add these prices up and ask them how they figure charging 55 dollars for labor. This procedure should be an incentive to get customers back; at many dealers the oil change charge has little margin for profit because it is designed as a customer satisfaction initiative.

Their screw up...they eat it! Personally, I would hold them to the AGREEMENT, and let them work out THEIR shortage with whoever wrote the AGREEMENT. :)

It depends on the dealer and the relationship that you have with them.
I have owned a Viper since 1995 and did all the scheduled (and "extra" unscheduled)oil changes at the dealer where I bought the cars. I have never paid for an oil change, they were all freebies. Service like that has kept me coming back for numerous vehicle purchases.

Whatever you decided to do,make certain you do it nicely and with control. Don't forget that you will be entrusting these guys with future oil changes. I would hate to piss them off...............while they have my car in their hands.

Just a thoughyt!
Cheers and good luck

Tell them to [******] off and get another shop to do the oil change!! buy the oil from walmart! I did that and get my oil changed for 1/2 the price then the Dodge dealer would do it!

The Dealer did not read the contract correctly , as ours does show extra charge for the Viper. Needless to say, I agree that you could ask for a refund as it was not stated, or they could agree to do it for the price stated. This looks like an honest mistake, as most Dealers wouldn't know as they sell so few Vipers , so I imagine they will work things out for you. By the way it is 11 quarts , not 10, and the fair market price is usually around $100. We caution folks to ask , as many Dealerships charge as much as $200. Only our Viper Techs touch Snakes, yes they get paid a bit more, and we do a thorough check also on the car. We could probably do it for a bit less, but both myself and our Viper Service Coordinator are tyrants and we don't want anyone to touch these machines except specialists. Hang in there and hope you get this resolved in an equitable manner.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I just got back from the dealership. They changed the oil and filter - but the finance manager had already gone home so I didn't get a chance to talk with him. The service manager said that we could talk to the finance guy on another occasion and get this issue taken care of. He told me not to worry about it - handed me the keys and told me to go enjoy the silver beast.

Thanks for the quick replies.

A contract is a contract. Just because it's their fault doesn't mean you have to pay for it. OTherwise, why enter into a contract. For example, had you bought this service contract and now find out that a dealer down the road will sell you the same contract for 1/2 the price, you think this dealer will refund you? ha haa haa

Don't know if this will help you but something similar happened with me but on a larger scale.

Leased a Lexus GX470 and the paperwork stated .15 cents per mile after you exceed the limit. Then after taking delievery of the car they said they made a mistake and that it should of been .30 cents. I didn't argue but i let them know what i signed for. They did the right thing, they said if we went over the allowed mileage they will pay the difference to the bank.

Thats good business even if you have to take the hit sometimes.

I've noticed most service advisors get cocky but the managers are always eager to please the customer! I just talk directly with the manager when I go in now!
