2005 Vert, Allstate Battery is six years old, starting to drag on startup. Need suggestions on a new battery. Had this one on a .08 amp maintainer all the time. I’d like brand and part number suggestions. Thanks, Bill

I prefer Interstate MTZ-34 as it is an AGM battery (no leaks) and has a 4 year warranty.

This is a good time to check the condition of your cables at the connectors, check the negative cable's connection to the frame, and to be sure that the insulator over the positive terminal is intact and will prevent shorting on the metal battery cover.

Don’t overthink this, it’s just a standard car battery. You can pick one up at Walmart for about $100, which is what I did this go round. I had been putting Mopars in for about $175 but the dealer increased the price to $275 now.

I've actually had good luck with the OEM (Mopar) Battery purchased from the dealership. I am sure it is a re-branded to Mopar battery, but the last two I have had lasted over 5 years in hot Texas! Reason being, I keep my car on a battery tender--they work great. After 15 years of ownership, I've only bought 2 batteries. Sorry, I don't have the Mopar Part number and too lazy to look it up. That said, I paid around (only) $235 for each of them at the Dealer. That's pretty good bargain in my opinion. Happy hunting. I'm sure those optima reds are $500+...... Just my opinion, but I've had good luck (saved some good money). Just buying Mopar OEM and installing myself.
