Next gen GTS goal - match Ford GT\'s 0-60 in 3.3 and 1/4 of 11.6@128 mph
The current (Jan '04) issue of Car & Driver road tests the new GT 40 (ok, Ford GT), and the 0-60 time of 3.3 seconds and 1/4 mile of 11.6 sec @ 128 mph clearly beats my stock blue & white striper GTS, as well as the two cars they tested it against (a 911 GT3 and a Ferrari Stradale 360). Good thing for the GT it could reach 60 in 1st gear, so not shifting helped the final time. Big numbers, big bucks - $150 K, not counting dealer markups. I sort of like the big Ford performance numbers, since hopefuly DC will be able to match them with the next gen GTS for about 1/2 the street price of a new GT 40. Apparently the C&D folks were not allowed to test the upper speed range in the GT, so I guess it's possible the GT 40 tester could have been a bit of a ringer. Mark
