O3 coolant color

Looking at an 03, is the coolant supposed to be green like in the "old" days?
I thought that all new cars used the OAT (organic acid technology) formula stuff which I thought was red or orange.

2003 Viper SRT-10 uses Mopar 5 year formula ...which is HOAT (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology)and, is a reddish-orange to MY eye...and it is NOT Dexcool !!!!!

Something about this is very fishy. Obviously, this car had its cooling system refilled - unfortunately with the wrong coolant. You should definitely probe into the service history of this vehicle.

There may be a simple answer...or one more complex.

It is NOT unheard of for the "parts guy" to serve up the incorrect fluid to the tech, and have the tech (or owner) miss that fact, especially if said tech (or owner) has little (or NO)Viper experience...and/or has not kept up with the evolution of the car or fluid recommendations. Have seen this happen with PS fluid, tranny fluid, coolant more than once.

Keep asking questions, and run the VIN through a Dodge dealers computer for history and service records.

Thanks folks.......it is a 03 with a "few" stories, and that is one thing that just jumped out at me when I saw the pics of the engine bay.
