OK, installed the 3\" Corsa, but
Spent about 12 hours on my back (now raw and red), removing the old system and installing the Corsa (twice!). It was a wrestle (car 1' off the ground -- need a lift!). Anyhow, followed the instructions, I thought, to a tee. Noticed the following problems:
1. There is too little space out the rear fascia to ram the tips, with the supplied mounting bracket. And, the bracket holds the tips too low (needs some bending adjustment). I bent it a little, but the ends need to be bent down 1/2" so it will hold the tips up 1/2". The result is the bottom of the fascia under the tips is pushed down about 1/2" - looks not good, and probably causes vibration.
2. Both side sill Corsa mufflers are held down too much by their hangers. The hangers need some bending too, but I'm not about to do that (might break them off the exhaust pipe. Because of them being held down too far, when the side sills are installed, the mufflers hit the side sill and cause vibration. Looks to me like raising the muffler to clear the side sills will cause the pipe going to the rear mufflers to touch the frame or sway bar (?).
3. The drivers side Corsa muffler/piping fits about right, as far as length goes. The passengers side was about 1" too long, so I cut off part of the cat pipe so that it would even fit.
Took it out for a ride and it sounded GREAT, but vibration was evident in various parts of the car, that wasn't there before.
So, I took it all OFF, and put on stock. No vibration and perfect as before.
I chalk these problems up to the Viper being hand built, so the Corsa/Viper needs some adjustment to fit properly. I will call Corsa tomorrow to see what they say. It is well made, but needs some refinement for my car.
Anybody else have vibration problems with the Corsa?
