Ok.

Roe sells one for 7250$. This seems to be the cheapest out there in the market, correct me if I am wrong. Performance on these are pretty good, right?

One other question, is there any market to buy these things used to save some money? I'm figuring not, but I figured I'd ask.

Oh - and one other question.

I don't plan on selling the car whatsoever, but I am just curious about what happens to the value after you install something like this. For example, if I install the Roe 7250$ supercharger, what will happen to the value of my car?

Why do you care then what it's worth with a supercharger if your not going to sell it? Rule of thumb .50 on the 1.00 in mod money return.

How long have you had your car? How many accidents have you gotten into? You might want to think about postponing a supercharger and get a little more time in the Viper under your belt first. Just my $.02. :p

Austin,

I only crashed once. LOL =D

Come on man, I hate to think that some guy in a modded cobra can put me to shame. We drive Vipers. We need to own the road.

Besides, I'm a new safe driver. Two hands on the wheel. Seatbelt. All the goods.

Do the Roe or Paxton. You will learn alot about the car in the process. Any fool can send his car to a tuner for 6 months. The fun of the car is doing the work yourself.

The answer is no. I've seen and bid on used s/c'ers for sale on ebay and they sell for almost what they were new.

The question is how much do you want to spend?? If you have an unlimited budget then you might want to go with someone like Doug Levin, or Jason Heffner. If your budget is around 10k then the Roe charger is the way to go. Instant power and tq and looks pretty  As far as value of mods on your car's resale value it's more like 33 cents per dollar if you are lucky :( Been there done that, dont ever modd a car thinking you are adding value to it, sometimes the modds have a negative value

No matter what you choose, you'll be happy.

Roe, DLM, Heffner... they all have good product. You won't be disappointed no matter what you do.

When I first bought in 2000, I interviewed all the SC vendors in business... I went with DLM. And I've never looked back.

In fact, I call DLM just to shoot the sh*t once in a while... I did that today, and I was reflecting on all the top quality work he's done for me over the years. 3 years of incredible service and he just keeps getting better.

Going with DLM is like buying a viper... none of your friends understand until they drive one... then they know why you have perma-grin...

Just my .02...

Re: Ok, so I\'m thinking about a supercharger?

What about paxton? And what price would be good for that one?

Chris, you have to decide what you want to do with the car before you zero in on what system to go with. I saw the Paxton kit up close and for the average guy wanting a little more power, it should do the trick. But if your goal is ultra high HP, you should realize the paxton kit has a tensioner pulley like the one on an alternator. Which do you think has more load on it? I think the belt will shred to nothing and/or come off if you try to go for more power than the limited amount it was designed to put out. It also has an 8-rib belt which will not do the trick for the higher HP application.

You have to first learn to drive the car to the limit on motor only, you need to educate yourself on all the possible avenues and consequences of each potential path. Then you have to buy what you want.

I have one thing for you to consider: 600 RWHP WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH! You get used to it after a few pulls and you are asking yourself, " Is this thing fast???????????"

Do some research while learning to drive the car, wait and see what OTHER people are experiencing with the different kits out there. Let them make you smarter so you do it right the first time! ==> Good luck!

Paolo, nice post and excellent advice. And thats a tough one, the deciding now what you might want from a car in the future, as we all know too well. Needs and dreams do change all the time but getting as clear as possible about your overall goals, at least near term, is sound advice.
So Paolo, is 887 rwhp enough? Let me guess.....

Re: Ok, so I\'m thinking about a supercharger?

The Paxton unit is CARB legal, I'm not sure about the rest. After modding my Supra and Mustang past the point of legal, I swore I'd never do it again (gotta love those CA registration renewals that mandate you take it to a Smog Pro *sigh*).

You should be able to pass smog and get a decent hp boost from headers, exhaust, and a SC... possibly up to 650rwhp. I'm sure someone from DC performance or another shop that does the Paxton install can give you a more realistic number.

so what is being said here about the paxton set up is that if we do more than 600RWHP, we will run into the chance of shredding the belt? What is the solution to this? Why would the belt shred?

Hey Paolo. Im surprised 912.1 HP is enough for you. Why didnt you just do an even grand?

I love to send my car to Heff or DLM but so far I have taken off every mod I have done to try something different. Rememver if you shell out 20 grand at a tuner you will probably feel bad about playing around with it. Im doing Roes it. If I dont like it, Im doing Paxtons kit. I could do both kits and still be under 20 grand and probably be alot more versed in Viper tuning. Of course if you pleaseure is to send your car out and get it back as a beast Heff or DLM will do you fine im sure.

Good luck.

Paolo hit in on the nose. After a few thousand miles at 600hp, you will be wanting more! But the key is to learn how to use the power that you have, and then move up.
Not everyone is a power freak, but I would bet that 9 of 10 people that has SC'd their Viper IS a power freak and wants more!
Myself included!

A Paxton kit in Texas has already put down 814 rwhp - but maybe Paolo knows better.

I agree the tuner cars are better - but at a price. In the end you do get what you pay for as the tuner kits include a lot more than just bolting a blower on. I have rode in two Heffner cars and met him a couple of weeks ago. Both Heffner and his cars are very impressive.

If it was me - I would go Paxton over Roe and Heffner over Levin. I just don't like the way Levin adds fuel before the TB's. Just my $.02.

Re: Ok, so I\'m thinking about a supercharger?

It's an interesting point. What is enough HP. I think it depends on your application. For me (and I'm likely unique in this regard) I really have no practical use for more that the 500+ HP that I have. I don't track the car (and IMO brakes and suspension mods would be much more beneficial). I don't 1/4 mile the car. It's basically a fun street car. And in my area, it plenty fast for the general conditions. Actually, dangerously fast! And I seldom have a cause nor the road conditions to utilize WOT. More HP would make the car's handling just that much more difficult (not to mention the added expense for the seldom used HP).

BUT, it is true that your baseline grows with the modifications; meaning that you get real accustomed to what you have after a short period of time. For that reason alone, you need to consider the most that you can afford to do it once.

There are other factors involved for some of us, i.e., the bolt-on and take off capabilities of the Roe SC. But the "is there ever enough HP" question is a valid one that is important to consider.

Anthony, I am sure it is the base Paxton kit, but RSI also had to upgrade the fuel system. I can't imagine the 8-rib belt not shredding with 800+ RWHP.
