Owners of a Comp Coupe OIL pan: Question...

How come they have to weld the bottom section for about 4 inches in a curved fashion? I get these are production pans that were modified, but when I look inside the pan, I dont see why it had to be welded.

Also does anyone clean them inside and out before installation? Seems to have a metalic grit on it, and I dont want that in my engine, but how do you get what you cant see which is below the windage tray.

The CC oil pan is a modded stock pan and the welding is part of the job. The oil pick up is larger and swivels. The oil feed tube is larger too. The dividers in the pan itself are also a bit different.

The windage tray is removeable, so cleaning is not a problem.

So far, mine has worked very well. I have supplemented it with an Accusump as well. Cheap insurance.

Cool, and yes, curtisy of Dan (Final GTS), I too have an accusump system, already installed, and will supliment the comp coupe oil pan
