Hi **** & Gals
Anyone fitted an after market pager type alarm to there Viper and if so what model did they use and how do they find it operates, Good/Bad?
I figure that this type of alarm will be preffarable to your standard no one cares about another alarm going off type! of alarm.
Plus the fact you can always rush out and persuade the offenders to leave your car with the right equipment of course.

I have installed many Pager alarms on my own vehicles and a lot of friends vehicles including motorcycles. There are a few different ones on the market. Don't get the one that only has a 1/4 mi. range. Get one that has a 4-5 mile range. Range depends on the terrain and antenna. The best antenna I found to use on the Viper is a rubber ducky type antenna that I mounted horizontally inside the front grill of my car. It is not visible from outside unless you get on your knees and look up inside the grill. The best place I found to mount the sending unit was under the passenger seat and I just wired the on and off switch for it into the mystery switch on the dash and used it to switch the unit on and off with. The unit comes with both noise sensors that you can place near your door locks or plunger type switches that you can install. They can also be installed on the hood and trunk if you want. options for some of them include glass breakage detectors, interior detectors and a lot more. I generally only use the door switches but have wired them so the alarm goes off when the gas cap door is open also. They can also be set up to work with your current alarm also. They are no longer 3 or 400.00 units. You should be able to pick one up on e-bay for $100.00 or less. The wiring is very basic and shouldn't take more then a couple of hours to install depending on what options you chose to use. Fortunately the one on my Viper hasn't paid for itself yet but some that I have installed on friends cars have and so has the one on my bike. Nothing I hate worse then a damn thief.
