how high with regard to compression can the envelope be pushed for a paxton without leading to serious and damaging engine problems. also; at what hp should a fuel pump be replaced with a bigger/better one

If you enjoy a learning experience at your own expense - then DIY is the way to do it. I once spent $50k doing up a Mopar 440 A-body. Made a few mistakes, learned a lot - but at end of the day - it was still an A-body, and the same money spent on a developed package would have brought a hell of a lot more.

After a few years of R & D you'll probably be able to take a proven package and make some improvements to suit your needs.... but that's a long and expensive road to travel unless that is your passion.

If you want value for money, reliable and proven results that will be cheaper in the end - almost guaranteed... the package deals from the reputable tuners will look like bargains by the time you've finished trying the DIY route.

My 2 cents - take it or leave it :2tu:

I suggest for the price changing the fuel pump as soon as you go to higher boost than the kit was designed fore. If you go to a bigger pulley your injectors will need to be changed out. Also for safety I would lower the compression as soon as you increase the boost from stock. There are different ways of doing this.
