Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

I drove the car to the carshow (150 miles) then it got to "cool" off for about 1 hour, 45 mins before we dynoed, but temps were in the 90's, so it didnt get to cool much (neither did we). Car just has the basic mods in my signature. 64k miles. I had told myself anything above 350RWHP, 420 ft-lbs, I'd be happy, so I'm happy :) . The only name I saw on the dyno machine was "Silverline" so I guess thats what type it was. All you dyno experts please make observations on anything interesting that you see.

i thought stock HP on a 96 RT/10 was 415?

you have a few mods, yet you are 50 hp LESS than stock?

what am i missing?

415HP at the crank. These are "at the wheels" #'s. I'd figure with my mods I have 430HP, so 366 at the wheels is about a 15% drive line loss which is the average loss. The dyno guy said on a stock car anything better than a 20% loss is good

You mentioned the drift car was 100 hp down also. If they measured that on the same dyno, then I agree something is a little of. My '94 only has 1.7 rockers over yours and rwhp was 404, rwtq was 487. If it was a portable dyno on the back of a truck, maybe the car was headed uphill too much... ;)

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

I'm gonna dyno it again in September, but using my estimated 430HP and 15% driveline loss, these #'s seem right on to me. Unless the 415HP that Dodge rated the car at is low. A Ram SRT-10 also dynoed and I think his reading was 437RWHP which is also pretty close to a 15% loss assuming his truck was stock. If I had dynoed once the temps had dropped and the car wasnt as hot, I'm sure I wouldve done a little better, but not sure how much

Does seem a little low to me Chad. I had the same #'s as Tom when all that I had were rockers as well. But I don't know squat so I will move on! :D

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

Somebody explain why these #'s seem low. I've always heard you lose somewhere around 15% from the crank to the wheels. My stock HP + basic mods almost come out to exactly a 15% loss, so whats wrong? Are they actually more than 415HP from the factory?

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

Thanks for the link, but its obviously some inconsistency in whatever dynos these people used as well. Here's a couple 96 RT/10 #'s. The car with more performance mods dynoed 3 RWHP less than just the car with K&N's.

1996 RT/10 K&N Filters 390/458
1996 RT/10 K&N Filters, Tubes, Edelbrock Headers, Borla cat-back exhaust, high-flow cats 387/463

Dyno #'s are all over the place. Better tuning tool than anything. I bet you could hit another one tomorrow and find 40 more HP.

<< Are they actually more than 415HP from the factory? >>

i thought the "stated" hp was always stated low for ins purposes and the "actual" hp was in fact normally higher than say our 415? no?

it doesnt make sense to me that the factory would "overstate".
ins rates would then be overinflated and people would be throwing a fit! right?

i am not a dyno guru like some of the guys around here, but it sure looks to me like either the dyno is off or the car isnt running as well as it could for some reason.

I think your numbers are right on the money. I would say the max you are down is 10rwhp. Remember that most people quote there best dyno number and different dynoes give different results. As an examle, I was at a dyno day where almost all the Gen 2's dyned 405rwhp. All had exhaust and some had headers. It was a hot summer day but it shows that not every Gen2 will dyno 420 with exhaust.

Like others have said, different dynos give out different results. Have you been to DynoLab in Atlanta? They have an in-ground DynoJet that is really good. They have $50 dyno runs on Thursdays between 5-11pm, which includes 3 pulls. That's where I took my '02 Z06 to get dyno-tuned a while back. Here's their website: http://www.dynolab.net/

That actually dosent sound to bad, it sounds about right. Look at my mods off the juice i put down 435/485. I have headers and full exhaust over him also and mine is a 99'

V10speedlover~ Add some Juice and you will be very happy!

Unless you are racing, it is an ego thing. The fact is that different dynos will give different numbers. Most people know that. The only way to make a comparison between cars is to dyno both on the same unit at the same conditions.

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

Hey V10SpeedLuvr,

I had my 2001 dynoed BEFORE I put my mods on (below) and it had MaxPower of 419.5 and MaxTorque of 446.4. I haven't had the chance to get it dynoed again after my mods, but with the 3.55 gears it makes it "feel" that the power has gone up significantly.

Anyways .. just my 2cents.

Cheers!!

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

These numbers seem about right on. My 95 with just borla mufflers / high flow cats and smooth tubes / K&N's, dynoed at 376 RWHP and 450 RWTQ. I was hoping for a little more because Lauri's (Redenuff93's) 93 RT dynoed at 410 RWHP and the only mod he had that I did not was the Gen II shorty headers with no cats.
I shortly there after got rid of the cats, and believe the cats on the Gen I cars are pretty restrictive. I did not dyno after removing the cats until later when the whole engine was rebuilt.

His Dyno#'s look right on the money. I have nearly the same numbers +10hp with K&N/Smooth Tubes, 3"0 exhaust and no muffler and 60K. I dynoed in the 370s with mid 400 torque.

Added a rich 200 shot and by got 530rwhp and 710tq on a 89 degree night with a dynojet mounted in the floor. Assuming 15% loss those numbers look good!

Re: Pic of my dyno sheet. I\'m happy

Stupid question time!

Since going by my dyno chart, it looks like my HP starts falling after 4000RPM, should I set my shiftlight to come on around there or leave it in the 5000 range?

Your tq has not reached its peak at 4K looks like 4.5-5K would be best. I am not a pro just what I see.
