Hello, everyone.

I have a Gen1 RT/10 1995.

I have a question about the engine head cover.
My Gen1 has 3 silver lines.

Some of the same Gen1s have engine head covers with 4 lines, what is the difference?

Thanks in advance.

I believe it was just a running change the factory made when they first started building the cars. Functionally I don't believe there was any difference, just cosmetically. I can't remember which is more rare, but I think it was the 4 rib version.

Oh, I didn’t know that.

It's night in Japan right now.
Thanks to you, I have solved the mystery and will be able to sleep comfortably.

redtanrt10 Thanks!
That's an amazing database.
After all, the knowledge of VCA and VCA members is great.

redtanrt10 is correct. A few more details: The original Gen1 Viper intake manifolds manifolds had 4 stripes on each side. They were sand cast aluminum plenums with shaped aluminum oval tubes in between, all salt-bath braised from a company in Ohio named Winters (they also did the blocks and heads). We made a running change to a single sand cast aluminum manifold casting. The weight was a little heavier, but easier to make and performance was identical (or pretty darn close).

I was part of the Viper engine design team back then. Best job of my life!!

Enjoy your ride!

MQQNVPR Thanks.

Awesome!

Are you a member of "TEAM VIPERS"?
Or are you a Lamborghini TEAM?

Either way.
Thank you for producing such a great car!

Wau!
If it wasn't for your question, I would never have known that some manifolds were produced with 4 lines!!
Amazing piece of information

Heine_Co I was a very lucky guy who spent 23 of my 31 years at Chrysler/FCA working on the progression of Team Viper through SRT. Mostly engine design for Gen1-3 & Gen5 of Viper then internals of the Hellcat & Demon engines; with a short stint as SQ manager at the Conner Viper vehicle & engine plant. AND I have a a '97 GTS in the garage. Yes, VERY lucky!!

You are an amazing person!

I also have a Challenger SRT8 2008.6.1L HEMI!
It's currently at the factory for repairs.

I love Chrysler cars!
But I think the Hellcat and Demon are ”very”, ”very” crazy. LOL
