1999 Black GTS with 12K miles buy it now price of 55K ]http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1834330877

They had it listed for $58,900 and I offered $51K.
They dropped it to $54,500 and I offered $51K.
After about 3 weeks, they just called and left a message...

I think they're getting close to taking $51K.

David why don't you start a new thread. First of all most people will never see your post. Second of all this is about the current price of Vipers not about someone looking at a car for you.

Get your own thread bro.

Sorry. I thought by commenting on the price I offered for one of the Vipers in your initial post, I *was* commenting on the current price of Vipers. I removed the offending line...

Pretty soon you will have lots of the garage queens trading in their Vipers since their friends will say "Wow, you have a Viper!!!" "Yep" "That brand new convertible" "Nope the older one" "Oh, so are you gonna get the new one?" "Yea, I want to." "The newer ones are sweet, makes the older ones look old and outdated" "Yea" "I heard the new ones have 500 HP" "Yea" "I wonder what that is like" "I can show you what 450 feels like" "In the old Viper?, naaa I am gonna get some lunch"

Hey Joseph, You may be right at first, but when people see the SRT as an overgrown S2000, the prices of those will drop! The coupe version will be built sooner to save the day!!! I had a RT/10,Prowler,I am all convertibled out!!! My GTS has now become priceless... I bought a powerboat for that open air feeling... .AL...00PROWLER

Excellent point. As a percentage of all Vipers, there seems to be a huge increase in the number of Vipers for sale. That can only mean one thing for prices .... they will fall.

I just got off the phone with a car dealer in Pomopano Beach FL who has 3 Vipers for sale. I told him I am a VOA member etc yada yada yada.

Well we got to talking and he said he too has seen the price of Vipers going down faster than usual over the last 2 months. He even said that there are a number of dealers sitting on final addition GTS' which really are no different than any other GTS. He had just bought one for resale and wished he had not.

Sounds strange to me.

He he thinks the prices will fall even faster over the next 6 months.

I think prices must fall for the following two reasons:

1. The SRT 10: Like it or not this will be the darling of the car magazines by late summer

2. Supply: There are now over 14,000 Vipers on the road so the car is no longer scarce

Where are the best places to look for used GTS's besides here and tradersonline? I've always thought a '99 or '00 GTS was out of my reach but with the prices your talking about, that may change.

Ebay prices I have found to be pretty low in terms of Vipers, go check there. Even if you don't meet the reserve you can still haggle on the price with the owner. Plus there's lots of cars in Texas on Ebay.

I agree the cars on E-Bay represent ,usually, a lessor quality overall.

I agree the roadsters may dip somewhat because the new car is a roadster et al.

The coupes are holding their own, that's clean, never wrecked, well taken care of coupes. I won't be surprised to see later edition coupes, particularly the ACR gain in value over 2003 and 2004.

DupontRegistry.com is a good start as well. Prices are inflated though you still may be able to find something of quality...

Best Place? Most Vipers for sale? Most knowledgeable sellers? Hands Down:

VCA Classifieds

186 Viper ads right now.......

Will prices drop, Probably, Will people give good cars away? Probably not. Will there be a lot of buyers as the prices drop? Yes..... From what I have seen over the years, the number of Viper buyers who will pay mid to upper 30's for the cars if HUGE compared to the number of good cars in that price region.... time will tell, but supply and demand is a two sided sword, and demand goes up as price goes down.... but as of June 28..... (total available) supply will only go DOWN (after a spike as Gen III trade-ups occur over the next year). Anyone who thinks there are 14,000 good Vipers out there is on something. Sorry to say, one (unnamed) member of our regions has totaled THREE (of his four Vipers)... and as Bonkers is finding out there are LOTS of Vipers that are wrecked. If I had to venture a guess, I'd bet that as many as 25% of the Vipers produced "are-no-more".

When Kit Car Cobras sell in the 35-45K range, a Viper in that same range with less than 10,000 miles on it all of a sudden sounds like the bargain of the century. Just my humble opinion though
