Not that any of us have ever driven our Vipers with salt on the road in states that use during the winter, but what if you did? What about your other cars that get so much salt on them that they turn grey?

Is there some type of chemical or cleaner that neutralizes the corrosion effects of salt? Something you could spray on and rinse off? Something to spray the undercarriage of car all up in frame and wheelwells?

There is a product called salt-away, and I use it on my boat after I get in from the ocean. It seems to work pretty good and can be found in boat stores. I see your in Michigan, so you may have to order it from an online catalog, like Boater's World, as I doubt stores up there carry it.

Salt-away, I'll look it up, thanks.
I was hoping a chemical engineer was watching. I'm told just water is the best but I don't believe it.

Mind you there are some Great Lakes in Michigan, he can probably get that stuff up there as well.

Arly, the great lakes are fresh water, not salt, hence my comment about being hard to find in MI.

Craig, here is their direct number:

1-888-salt-away

Bottle says safe for all surfaces, will not strip wax, biodegradable, and non-toxic.

I use it on the exterior of my boat, flushing the engine, and on my aluminum trailer and have no salt build up usually found when you dip them in the salt water consistently.

Craig --

You didn't . . .!! Did you?

Hisserman, Not with the Viper, it's in the storage bag waiting for 2 or 3 days of rain to wash this crap off the streets. I'll drive it in 40 degree weather with no top if the salt was gone. This is for a BMW I just bought, I'd like to get the salt off of it in the spring.

Use the blaster at the self wash on the underside of the bimmer...hot/soapy water and pressure...in all the under belly spots that you can see...trying, not to blast off any plastic parts, etc....THEN, drive thru a high end touchless wash that has the strong vertical jets for the underside...THEN, forget about it !!!

The BEAR is when one is unfortunate enough to run thru the "water" spilled on a road where they are using the hydro-drilling method to bury cables...whatever is in THAT stuff dries instantly, and is not unlike a thin coat of concrete...and requires careful washing/spraying with vinegar solution followed be a good Dawn wash on the body. One can use vinegar soaked rags to clean the frame and suspension while the car is on a lift. Obviously, this happened to us, and took forever to FINALLY get the car back to normal !!!
