Purners and tires??

all last yr ive been content to run on front street tires and rear BFGs. i am thinking about getting a set of purners so as to run rear slicks. whats this full deal gonna cost me and whats the best recomm setup? or should i go down to 17" rears? etc. opinions from the 1/4 mile gurus

What kind of brakes do you have on the front ? Nonstock....you will atleast have to run a spacer and then it will be close. ET streets and skinnies are a must for best performance.

I would cal Purner and he will steer you right...I have two sets from him and they are great!

I ordered a set from John today. His set-up is direct bolt-on if you still have stock rotors.

Rich:

It seems that viper traction exponentially diminishes with increased torque. What worked for you last year isn't going to work this year.

A lot of people post great quarter and sixty foot times on street radials, however, the tracks probably have an inch of VHT on them. Put that high torque car on a not so well prepped track and it could get embarrassing.

i ve been figuring im gonna take the leap to purners. just wish there was a happy medium for the looks of them things theyre just plain fugly. ahh well guess that just means i gots ta go faster so as nooone can see my wheels

Do you still have stock brakes/rotors ?
I wasn't real excited about the look but I had many comments from friends that they looked better than stock.

When you take your old rims and tires off and put the Prunners on, you will not believe the difference in the weight between your old set up.
