Question re: lowering \'02 ACR

Hey guys,

I can't find the little ACR tool that came with my car. I've got two questions:

1) The dealer can't find a part # for me to order another one. Does anyone know the part #?

2) Can I still adjust my ride height without it?

Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Question re: lowering \'02 ACR

LOL just kiddin around. Yes you can still adjust, it's simply a jam nut type of setup. Remove the shocks and put the bottom end in a vice. Get a good hammer and a punch that will give lots of contact with the bottom jam nut (there are slots in the nuts). By hitting the nut in the clockwise position you will untighten it. Spin it down to where you think you want the nut above it to stop. Then get a pair of pipe pliers and a good rag. Put the rag over the upper slotted nut and spin it down careful so not to chew up the nut. That's it! Oh don't forget to tighten the jam nut again.
When I raced moto x our shocks are setup the same way. we didn't need no stinking wrench LOL
Good luck and PM me if you have more questions.

Wait, I may have this upside down......in either case the procedure is the same.

Holy crap, that actually sounds kind of tough. I guess I'll have to do it that way though if I can't figure out how to order the little tool that came with the DSI shocks. Thanks Tracy.

There is nothing to it. You can do it while the shocks are on the car I suppose also. Just jack the car up and take the wheel off. It's really no big deal.

If you adjust the height -- do the corner weights...

Re: Question re: lowering \'02 ACR

Tony, I was under the impression that you could. Am I wrong on that? What is the spring/shock setup on a GTS or RT/10? Aren't all GenII Vipers coil-overs?

David, where would I get that done?
