Does anyone know what type of adhesive is used to "glue" the insulation to the inside of the side sills?
It appears that the factory uses some sort of black adhesive in a few spots to hold it in.

The adhesive on both of my cars broke loose too. I used (with good results so far) is the red high temp RTV. It holds up to the sill heat well enough and does not get brittle like the factory stuff. I had the side sill off of my '04 recently and the RTV is holding the insulation tight after almost 3 years.

I used the ultra copper high temp rtv to hold the insulation in place on my serpent as I believe it had a higher temp rating than the red. Seemed to hold pretty well.

Hey Lance,

I too have used the ultra copper high temp rtv by Permatex (I think).

For best results, let the adhesive set up before installing the side sill.

The OE black stuff hardens and fails pretty early.
