Now that I have fallen in love with drag racing, I understand that sometimes things will let go. DC confirmed to me that damage on the race track would not be covered. So, what I would really appreciate knowing is the following.

What part has the highest propensity of breaking? And what is the average cost associated with it?

The car is not heavily modded as you can see. Maybe I am over-reacting here. But I just want to be prepared for the worst. I have nightmares of something snapping at the line and me pushing the car off of the strip.

As usual any advice from you guys/gals, would be more than appreciated...especially with Saturday soooo very close ;)

Anything along the lines of, "don't sweat it, this car is bulletproof"! would be great :D

Push it to the street!

Seriously, are you using slicks? 1/2 Shafts I would think.

Put DC on a " need to know basis" ... they do NOT need to know anything...You NEVER went to a track.... it is a 450hp car things break with "STREET" driving. You do not have to drive the stock car hard to have a good time at track. No need to do big burn outs ...just a quick small spin of tires to clean them off... DO NOT DRIVE THRU WATER (BLEACH) BOX. You get more and bigger mods is when you need to "bulletproof" car.

But you may want to upgrade your half shafts down the road.

just running the stock pilots. I like this "need to know" concept. ;)

Perhaps a heavy duty half shaft is the way go. I must have seen this posted about a zillion times, so there must be some gains there.

thanks,

My concern would not be DC covering the damage or paying for a clutch or half shafts out-of-pocket. I would be worried about someone crossing into my lane, and damaging a $12,000 hood - $10,000 aluminum side sills. Or loosing traction, and wacking the wall. OUCH!!! I'm sure the odds of this happening are slim, but do you want to take that chance? Now of course, you could push the car to the street and say it happened elsewhere. Lying to DC is not a crime, but lying to your insurance company is.... Personally, I like my freedom. I guess if you want to play, you may have to pay.

Seriously, I agree with Cudaman about the "need to know basis" , especially as far as DC is concerned.

As for the heavy duty half shafts, you probably won't be needing them unless you're running slicks or you increase your HP/TQ. The stock half shafts are definitely the "weak link". Some refer to them as fuses. You'd rather a fuse blow than your entire system! Although an extra set might come in handy at the track.

like cudaman said, "need to know basis"

as for the hvyduty halfshafts; do it, period. you do not want to look like a tool tossin a halfshaft at the light, after showing off with a wicked burnout, LOL. its a tough car, drag racing occasionally wont hurt it a bit, it isnt fine china, use it.

Michael...If you can afford to buy a Viper (and you did), you can afford the little things you're gonna break...Just don't pop the motor...or the tranny...or wreck it...Short of that, you can damm near fix anything else yourself...Just don't embarrass the Viper community with any 15 second passes!

Now then, lets talk about gettin you on the spray!!!

Thanks Gerald, at least now I know the main components will hold up to what I want to use it for. Now as for the "spray", I am going to wait to see what YOU pull out with yours. You had some good shots of the trunk with the aluminum brackets, but I don't remember seeing the engine part...
