I've got a crack in my oil pan around the drain plug, so I'm going to be replacing it soon. Anything out of the ordinary that I need to know when installing? Here's what I know:

1. Use locktite on the baffle screws inside the pan.
2. Tighten from the inside out.

Do I need locktite on the oil pan screws? Prepare the gasket with oil or anything? Anything else I need to know when reinstalling the dipstick?

Thanks

Since the pan is off, pull the pickup tube and replace the o-ring.Use some brake-clean for the pan and block surfaces(new pan gasket if yours is original).Apply silicone on the four inner corners where the splits are in the block.Locktite is fine on bolts.Fill tube goes in from top, smear some silicone around the end and push into the hole, then bolt it down.

If you want to install an oil temperature gauge, now would be the time to do it.

I bought an aftermarket sender and used a spare Viper coolant gauge (I had one from when I bought this Canadian car, reading in degrees C. You could look for a degrees F version. I put it in place of the battery voltage gauge.)
