what is the best approach on a tune for my new 03? have a blank sct tuner and have an accomplished tuner(chris johnson- he invented these cool gadgets), however i'm inclined to retain a viper only specialist and get the e-mail. currently dynoed 446/473 with bolt on exhaust and air. where will this put me??

For just bolt ons and email tune will be fine. Several site sponsers can hook you up. I have the Pro racing software for my SCT tune and it also works fine. More flexability to retune for future mods. Gen 3's are pretty easy for a good tuner to tune, because the heads are the weak link in the HP chain, they stop making power way before you reach any dangerous timing limits or airfuel ratios readings.

Gains 12-20 peak rwhp depending on you stock computer settings.
25-30 mid range rwhp.

impressive numbers for those few bolt ons. is there a tuner that is preferable: and reasonable to hit 475-480? sounds like i will need more than a tune? what after the tune?

SCT is a good way to tune on the Gen3's. With a set of headers, and exhaust, intake and tune. We routinely get over 500 rwhp on our Dyno Dynamics Chassis Dyno. We can help you reach your desired number pretty easy on an 03.
