Shifting from 6th to 5th

I keep hitting second when I shift from 6th to 5th. What am I doing wrong? Is it my hand position or do I need a new shifter? I can't figure out where my thumb should be pointing. Serious replies only please. I need to solve this before I damage my beautiful car.

I had the same problem with my E brake handle. I had it removed and placed to the left of my clutch like it is in my truck. Works so sweet I'm thinking of making a kit for it.

That sounds great but I already had my clutch moved because I kept pushing my left foot into the trunk release thinking it was the clutch. I might get very confused driving my asp!
