Looking for a packaged deal of shorter stock shifter rod with the shifter knob. I've seen some vendors offering shorter rods and some knobs, but not sure if anyone offers both together.
For instance I just called "The Viper Store" and guy on the phone was not sure if I order their "Short Throw Shifter Knob" if it actually replaces the OEM rod or just the knob itself. I really liked both shifter knobs on their site, but couldn't determine which one is actually with the shorter shift rod and which one is not.

All those knobs have a short rod on them....When installed the leather can be raised to almost completely cover the rod

MGW short-throw replaces the TALL stock shifter...MUCH improvement with a shorter-throw. We didn't replace the whole assembly, just the shifter. Allen wrench to take off the boot, unscrew the shifter, insert new MGW! (We got a BLUE FANGS logo to match the car~! We also had the MGW short-throw shifter/knob in our '05 BLACK Viper w/red fangs logo). It DOES make a world of difference in shifting~! ~juli

I've used the gripper on 2 Vipers. I like the larger "ball" knob. But it IS personal preference. The "ball" is also closer to the OE shift knob.

Thank you Venomis :::)))) Is the second shifter on the picture here is the "first strike"? Kind of hard to tell from that angle. If not anybody got a picture of the first strike shifter on the car?

Yes, but to be honest, I don't like shift knob on it.

So you are looking for something OTHER than the stock shift knob design? You need to specify that a bit better, from your initial post, it reads that you are looking to keep the OEM knob look.

I'll have to keep an eye on the shifter bezel, that's something I was looking into purchasing for a X-Mas gift for myself. :)
