I just finished my stroker motor. We pulled 624/618 on motor at the rear. My question is this - I currently have 3.55 gears in the rear. Should I go back to the 3.07's??? Will my car be faster from 80-150 with the stock gear???? I am not concerned about quarter mile times or MPH - Just highway accelleration. There has got to be a way to calculate this. I still have my 3.07 rearend sitting in the garage, so it is very easy to switch back.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Regards,

wouldn't it be the opposite? Seem like the 3.55 will be better on the low end the 3.07 better on the high end?

not 100% but i think for road use you would want the 3.07

Don't know about faster, but with the 3.55s you will run through the gears quicker and end up at a higher gear than you would have if you kept the 3.07s. Also, you will be putting more torque to the ground with 3.55s and it will make it harder to hook up versus the 3.07s because you have more torque than stock.

VERY nice numbers Martin. At 150 what gear are you in with the 3.55 ? Based on my car, I would say you are near the top of 5th.....what rpm/gear is 80 mph.

p.s. I'm still goin to smoke you with my stock motor

I've been driving my Roe SC'ed GTS with the 3.55's for the last 7 months. I finally got around to changing back to stock today. Our power is similar (610/ 667). I found the
3.55's hard to hook up, like driving on a wet road in 1st thru 3rd gear. Fifth gear is good to 155.

I would go back to the 3.07. You will have one less shift. Shifting hard into 5th with a lot of power is not good for the trans. Besides, 3.55 X .74 = 2.627. This is a lower multiplication factor than 3.07 X 1.0 that goes to 150 MPH. There is also something to be said for 5th gear not being as efficient as 1:1 1st. I think it would be very close either way. The 3.07 would be easier to launch anyway. Either way you can't lose. (Unless you race 1Tony1!)
