Removing your feline will definitely reduce the risk of getting scratches! HA!
Seriously though, IMHO it will reduce the risk of yellowing. It will also freak out the computer if you don't replace the O2 sensors with a dummy load (though I think it might not be destructive. Others might have a for sure answer on that one). Yes it probably will void your warranty (and cause cataclysmic effects to the ozone layer, heh heh). Another option might be to replace it with a free flow cat made for the Viper.
