Recently I had the need to come to a complete hard stop from around 55mph in order to lawfully stop at a traffic light. When I started off again once the light had changed to green, I noticed rather heavy oil smoke as I shifted through 4th. Afterwards, no more smoke. Anyone else heard of this? If so, is it normal or is there a fix?

If you mean exhaust smoke, yep, it's your oil taking a dump into the intake under hard deceleration. Guys who track a lot often put a system in that stops this from happening by re-routing that oil to a little tank on the right side of the engine. Keeps your Viper burning gasoline as four-cycle engines don't really like to eat your oil!
