hi, i just got the Uconnect related software upgrade kit in the mail… it says to turn the engine ON and run it while doing the upgrade…

is it possible to do it with the ignition in the ON position and my battery charger going at 15Amp mode… question is really… do i need to have the engine really ON and firing when i'm doing the upgrade… i see no point of it except to keep the electrical going….

any input from those that have done it… may be i'll be the first to do it and report….

You can hook up your battery charger up instead if you want.. All they are trying to do is make sure the car doesn't lose power in the middle of the upgrade. It only takes about 10 mins.

Could you please tell me how did you get the software in the mail? I've only seen software downloads on the U-connect website .

I got all of mine in the mail except the one for viper. I'm assuming that they started doing that because, it was overwhelming the dealers. Only thing about
Doing the update is, it messed with my GPS navigation. After I got home I killed the car, everything was fine. I was told by the dealer that some of the big trucks had their radio locked out by the update and needed to be replaced.

The update fixes 70 different things; the biggest being the security breach on the radios- and all the way down to little things like voice recognition enhancements, etc.. It's no wonder your Nav was messed up as there are major reworkings involving it and the GPS system. If you haven't received your update yet, get a blank, and I stress blank, flash drive and bring it to your dealer. They can load the update and you can install it.

Can't you download the update from the uconnect site?

Probably - I just chose to go to the dealer. At least that way I eliminate any chance, hopefully, of corruption.
