Did anyone else notice it? To me its a pretty damn important
thing to be getting neglectful on.

Still having trouble? I'll give you a hint - its missing from
the VCA renewal forms and the 2007 badges.

Another one? Mmmm... Okay - It was REALLY missing from
the VCA's free renewal gift.

Got it?

Yeah, with exception of a single paying ad, there were no Sneaky
Petes to be found anywhere in the issue. There wasn't even any
GEN1/2s except for three pics in the back letters sections. I
admit the new Gen3.5 (or 4) is big news, but not everyone
(especially myself) wants to read an entire sales catalog of SRT
products.

A full book of SRT stuff. Even the ads are geared specifically
towards SRT products. I went through each page and here are the
counts as I see them:
63 pages not including the covers.
1 Page dedicated to SRT8 Charger
17 Pages with only SRT references (not including ads)
12 Full Page Advertisements
4 Pages on the CC and Racing (which I feel is very reasonable)
3 Full pictures of Gen1/2s, but each pages included a full pitcure
of SRT as well.
5 Weird pics of Gen1 and a very nice shot of a CC for good measure.
10 "Fangs" logos used as decoration only (not including hood
emblems and the little end of story icons) and the only Sneaky
Pete in the ENTIRE issues is in (of all places) the Snake Oyl ad.

[rant]
HEY *** - NOT ALL VCA MEMBERS ARE HAVING WET DREAMS
ON THE 08 MODEL!!!!

This annoys me to no end. As a paying member of the VCA I want
recognition for my Generation car. I know Dodge didn't like us
using Sneaky Pete Logo when the SRT sales were flopping (*ahem*,)
but I thought we were beyond that now. I'm smart enough to
realize that the Gen3 line is the new product, the big news of
the week, and probably is making up a good (maybe even majority)
portion of the club now, but I'm not going to continue paying
dues to be forgotten. The regional gifts all come "Fangs" only,
the VCA free gift is a "Fangs" keychain, my new badge is an 08
with a "Fangs" logo and all of my VCA mail comes in on "Fangs"
letter head.

Despite my utter disgust and loathing of the car, I'm not asking
for a major overhaul of VCA protocol here - like I said the 08
is fun to talk about this week - I get that......really. Our
sugerdaddy Dodge wants something for their love - I get that too.
But AT THE VERY LEAST I would like my club badge and Club Magazine
to have a Sneaky Pete on it if not a Gen1/2 somewhere. Is that
really so much to ask?[/rant]

Relax.Five years out of production and the Gen 2 cars still show up on the front of various car mags.Say the word Viper and people have a vision of the Gen 1-2 cars. DCX and the VCA just don't get it!Some people are just SLOW LEARNERS. GTS Bruce

Long live Sneaky Pete, and the Four Fathers! Roy S, Tom G, Francois C, +Bob L.

I have almost no heros at all that I reverence, but these guys come closest to being heros in my book.

I agree 100% with everything you just said. I don't want "fangs" stuff, My Viper is a sneaky Pete, not "Fangs"
Yah i'm not paying dues to be forgotten either and i also don't think the Gen III guys out number the Gen I & 2 guys!

This is BS, who should we write about this?

For the faithful-

There is an animated snippit of a GTS on Motor Trends' front page. When you open the page, a video starts playing on the right, and after a few seconds an animated GTS blasts in and does a 180 and a burnout. A car that came out 11 years ago!

The point being, that the Gen 1+2s hold an iconic status, its an entrenched part of our culture. So much so that it appears even today in MT's stuff.

Hmm must've been a different video, the one I got was a black Henny SRT-10 with comp coupe rear panels and a stock front.

The magazine is basically a marketing tool. Why show Gen I/II when DCX doesn't sell them anymore? It was nice reading about the 600hp '08 but I could have read that in any other car magazine. If this keeps up I don't think I'll be renewing my subscription anymore.

The magazine is supposed to be a "VCA" magazine. The "C" stands for "CLUB" which should include all the previous years too.

It’s the same with all car clubs. When I bought my 5 series BMW and joined the club, all they ever talked about was the little M3. Like I cared.

As far as the VCA mag, I can't read enough about the 6 0 0 HP 2008! And then the Mopar kit to jump it up too 6 7 5 HP? That's gives me a semi.

My goal is to be a part of the Viper program and keep it moving forward. I'll never argue with a person saying the GTS Viper is the most beautiful car EVER, but the torch has been passed to the SRT team now and their putting up the good fight.

Time to make nice. Is there anything to say about the Gen I or Gen II Vipers that hasn't been said a million times? Let's give these guys at SRT/DCX a pat on the back rather than a kick in the ares. IMO

Agreed here that the GTS Viper was the gorgeous one made (namely the '96)...to us ALL the Vipers are works of Art...will read about ANY Viper anywhere, no matter what year it is, GTS/RT/SRT/ACR...love them all. The fervent hope here is that DCX or whatever Daimler-Chrysler's future name is gonna be is to continue to produce the Vipers. Nothing matches it in the U.S.A.
To ALLLL Viperssssss everywhere... :headbang: :headbang: ~juli

Wha Wha.....the new Viper Mag doesn't focus on my car...wha wha...

SO I guess you won't look at the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cause it only has the "NEW MODELS".

Don't know if the Viper will live on in new production, but I never liked the "Sneaky Pete" term anyway. What's wrong with plain old "Snake"? "Sneaky Pete" personalizes what should remain a feared, dark, powerful creature. But then, the Viper isn't feared anymore. This '08 stab at Kingdom will only last a few months, but it'll be good while it lasts.

I just get tired of seeing Gen III stuff, i own a gen II so naturally i'd like to see something about a Gen II. The magazine is supposed to cater to ALL Viper owners not just Gen III owners and i think thats what he's talking about. I personally think it's a little BS.
I won't renew if it keep up. Just my opinion, sure i like hearing about the NEW 600HP beast but i could care less about the other Gen III Vipers. I think the magazine should equally show a different variety of all the years, that alone would even make it more intresting.

On a side note i do kinda like the FANGS logo.

Can't see why all the VCA club paperwork can't have both logo's on Sneaky on the left and fangs on the right.......

Wow, for someone who does not like the mag, you sure read and
took stats on every page.

??? Where did I say I didn't like the magizine? I have almost
every issue. Since its one of the few subscriptions I have left
I have plenty of time to read every page.

My complaint here is with the general shift of ViperMag, VCA,
and ViperHQ towards the SRTs..... AGAIN. It wouldn't be that
big of a deal except we went through this before when Dodge
decided it wasn't going to allow us to use the old logo anymore.
We fought about that and won... only to never see it again
anyway.

I don't like or support the new car - it's a personal and very
unpopular choice. For 09 though if I can't get a Gen1 or Gen2,
I at least want a Sneaky Pete on my badge. And unless dodge is
fronting the cash for the free gifts (which I highly doubt,
but I could be worng) I want my club financed gifts and
products to at least have a Sneaky Pete option.

On that note, anyone want the Fangs keychain I got this year?
About the only thing I can do with it is use it as a fishing
lure.

My Fangs keychain is just laying next to my stack of mail. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to keep it, give it away or what but I'll probably never use it.

Next year maybe I'll save the $100 for VCA membership renewal and see if eBay has a Sneaky Pete keychain listed.

I threw my key chains away, who cares. Dodge supports the club because they want you to buy product. New Product, not old. With any luck you'll get your wish when the Viper gets discontinued and Dodge doesn't support this site anymore. Gen I and Gen II's are old news, oh and wait, didn't you win a Comp Coupe from the same club that's not thinking about Sneaky Pete. Talk about crying with two loaves under your arms.
