SRT-10\'S really any faster???

I have been reading up on various vipers and it seems that when sticky tires are put on, both the GTS and SRT10 are running mid 11's 1/4m. I can't say I have driven one(srt-10), so I don't know, but I have raced one, and did well. Has anyone else gone head to head with the srt-10 in a stock gts?

Re: SRT-10\'S really any faster???

Equally equipped at the drags, (pilots) in my experience SRT's are between .1 and .2 seconds faster. Not a big difference, but significant.

Maybe a really strong GTS would beat a really weak SRT.

On a road course or solom the difference is similar. SRT Maybe 1% faster. SRT's drive off the corners better than GTS and have much better brakes.

Hard to get them head to head. Usually as soon as SRT dips into 11's they are prevented from running again due to safety equipment regs at NHRA tracks. This has kept the sticky tires SRT's off the tracks. (as they are not then considered stock).

NHRA recently changed its rules to allow completely stock cars to run quicker. Should see more heads up racing this Summer.

Its all about the driver, even though the SRT should be the faster car it has yet to show it.

There have been many 2nd gen vipers to run mid 11's in totaly stock trim(including factory pilots). The SRT's are running the exact same thing.

And I have yet to hear of anyone running an 11.5x in a bone stock SRT and a gen 2 has done this.

Russ, I always questioned those 11.5 "bone" GTSs. They would have to dump a 55-gallon drum of VHT the whole 1/4 mile length of the strip to get 11.5 out of a bone stock, Pilots GTS. I have no doubt a truly bone stock SRT has a truly bone stock GTS beat at the dragstrip, (same driver).

There is also no way a stock GTS is going to keep up with a SRT in lap times, (same driver of course). Obviously Archer or the late great PMUM would hand most of us a whoopin' no matter what they drove.
