Bike is not stock...

Like many of the other Italian bikes a Benelli looks cool (underseat cooling system), but it is seriously underpowered though. First they try to let you buy those turds @ +$16K and then you need to invest another $3K in performance chips and exhausts (those twins need 2 of them).
Recently read a Benelli test in a European mag and both the handling and power delivery were not that good.

The only Italian bike I would ever consider is the Aprilia Mille R (comes with full Ohlins suspension).
Out of the box nothing beats the Gixxer 1000 though.

If you're in the market for a bike, wait another year. Both Honda and Yamaha will have new liter class bikes based on their GP racing efforts (the Honda will be a 5 cylinder). Will most probably take the class to another dimension.
