I've been told to seal them in close fitting plastic bags, such as the ones that you get at Discount Tire and keep them in a place away from sunlight and heat. Or, maybe your wife will let you put them in the freezer.

Husing - I was only kidding about the freezer, but the sealed bags will help keep the rubber from getting harder in durometer. They should easily be good for 3 years. I did the same for my 97 and now 2 1/2 years later I'm ready to put them on the car.

For very long-term storarage, I would spray coat the outer tires and even the tread itself in spray Silicone.

Then, seal in BLACK plastic bags. Black will not transmit any light energy, whereas white bags or clear bags will. Evacuate as much air from the bag as possible, and then seal the open end.

Store in a cool an area, out of sunlight and heat. Like a basement area, or an under-house crawlspace.

When you eventually re-use the tires, be SURE to clean the silicone from the treaded surfaces !
