Stress Fatigue: Transmission Housing

Doing some cleaning on the underside, checking my tranny fluid level last week & noticed some stress indicators on the transmission housing, similar to what you would see on a dried lake bed. Roughness is pronounced. Anyone else have this on their housing?

Could this be caused by rapid cooling? The car had nitrous on it before I purchased. Could it be a result of high loading? The stress patterns are not square, but more like a trapezoid.

Any metallurgists on here?

Well, I have seen some fluid there after extended periods. (on the webbing) Not enough to actually drip onto the garage floor, but enough to be evident that fluid is coming from somewhere.

Never did find a leak that we discussed over the phone Chuck. Sensors were fine.

I don't know if these qualify as casting marks since they aren't uniformly distributed.

I'll take some pics next time I get her up & post, if I can find this thread when I get around to it.
