Stupid question about my factory stereo

Yes you can, either get it from a Dodge dealer or you can buy an Alpine that uses a M-BUS connector. Just make sure that the CD changer is from that year. You can call Alpine and they can tell you which model you need. Go to ebay there are hundreds for sale cheap!!

You mean the radio in my Viper GTS is "changer read" and all I have to do is get the right cable and changer!

Wow!

That would be too good to be true!

However, the SEEK function on that Alpine is an ABOMINATION not to mention the absense of SCAN.

No "effective" SEEK and SCAN really favor replacing the entire unit...

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Unfortunately 1996 GTS Alpines do not directly accept a changer, Alpine, Chrysler or otherwise.

You will need to use an FM modulator which is exactly what Dodge will sell you if you purchase the changer from them.

Older Vipers with Alpine AM-FM Cassette units had the direct connection jack.</FONT f>
