ViperSpeed drivers Bobby Archer and Dr. Deborah Loth finished first and second this past Sunday in the SCCA T1 race held at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Hallett, Oklahoma. Although the SCCA event at Hallet was outside their normal Southwest Division, Archer and Loth decided to compete in the event to earn points and get Dr. Loth additional seat time in her new yellow No. 23 T1 Viper.

In preparation for the Hallet event, Archer and Loth spent the previous Friday testing at the MotorSport Ranch in Ft. Worth, TX. Changes that were made to the suspension set-ups of Loth’s No. 23 Viper and Archer’s No. 32 SuperClubs Resorts/Bobby Archer Motorsports/ViperSpeed T1 Viper during testing proved quite helpful on race day as Archer and Loth swept the front row with the fastest two qualifying times for the T1, T2, GT1, GT2, SSB, IT race.

Although the field for the Hallet race was not large, Archer and Loth were looking forward to the technically challenging Hallet track which includes elevation changes and blind turns. As the green flag dropped for Sunday’s race, Archer and Loth took off and pulled away from the field. Although the track was greasy, Archer was able to set a new track record, beating his time from an April race at Hallet by. 0.3 seconds. With Dr. Loth watching and learning from Archer’s every move, the two drivers skillfully piloted their Vipers through lap traffic as the race progressed. Both Archer’s black Viper and Loth’s yellow Viper performed flawlessly throughout the race and the two ViperSpeed cars finished 1-2, with Archer winning his record sixth straight T1 race this season. Archer will now have a few months off to get his Viper ready for the T1 race at the SCCA Run-Off’s at Mid-Ohio on September 21st, where he is considered to be the front-runner to win the coveted T1 National Championship. With her second place finish at Hallet, Dr. Loth has accumulated sufficient points to earn a spot in the T1 race at the SCCA Run-Off’s as well. Not bad for a driver who had never raced competitively until this year! For Archer and Loth, September can’t get here soon enough!

Does T1 allow carbon fiber body parts, such as a hood, as long as the car is the correct weight?

Also, what about additional louvers in the hood like the Oreca cars?

Congrats to Archer and Loth.
