Friends,
Just a brief note from one very tired National Officer to all the VCAers who heeded our call and attended VOI 10. While you will always get someone who was not happy about something or another, I can say that Chrysler and the VCA volunteers led by the JRT Event Management Team, did one hell of a job!
If you total up what you had an opportunity to do, tours, CAAP, some driving, banquets, riverboat cruise, parade laps, interaction with SRT Personnel, track events, drag racing, full Belle Isle multi event race weekend, merchandise, casinos, and on and on, there truly was something/everything for everyone. (Oh, and the bus driver that got lost, sources say he owns a Corvette:smirk:)

To those who came, on behalf of the VCA and especially the National Officers and National Board of Directors, we say a sincere THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
Your attendance, whether simply to see a VOI, or to socialize with hundreds of Viper manics, or to see where and how a Viper was made, or to meet many of those persons who founded the Viper program etc, or perhaps to come out and show your support for the VCA and the Viper program...YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE!!!

Many Chrysler execs and indeed representatives of the new owners of Chrysler milled about and many told myself and other VCA leaders about the obvious PASSION the VCA Nation has for this car. We had hoped to introduce this passion to those who had not experienced us before, and we can say Mission Accomplished, Thanks to you.....

On a more global note, We, the National Officer corps wish to convey our absolute confidence that the Viper program will be continued. Right now, Viper belongs to Chrysler/Dodge. If this changes,(and recall that outside third parties are soliciting Chrysler not vice-a-versa) we received express representations from the highest company authorities that any change in the latter would be to PRESERVE the Viper. If a new player is introduced we are confident that the Viper's history has already sold itself as both a highly desirable automotive benchmark/icon, but also as a profitable business case. Importantly, the VCA can play a significant role in assuring that Viper will remain viable in the future and indeed be an important component in that business case. What the future ownership structure will be is to be determined, but I can assure that the VCA's voice will be heard.

In closing, we thank you for your support past, present and future. VOI 10 was a resounding success by any objective measure. YOU made it a success.........

Thanks Bob, it was great to chat with you again and I'm very pleased that you're in constant contact with the leadership at Cerberus/Chrysler. I'm also happy that you're relaying to them the importance that continuing production of a profitable vehicle like the Viper and the many intrinsic spin-offs across their entire lineup of vehicles when the Viper is placed at the top of the SRT lineup.

Aaron

Is there anywhere or anyone we need to send our thank you's to at Chrysler so they are aware of our appreciation?

If those people are reading this, thank you! It was a week we will never forget!

Thanks!

Many thanks to Chrysler and the VCA. It was our first VOI and we had a blast! Sure, not everything went as smooth as it should have including the weather, but the good times were well worth the screwups. Thanks again!!!

Having been to all 9 prior VOIs, my expectations were high, simply because VOIs are a LOT of fun.
A few of them were GREAT fun, and learning and sharing experiences.

We started at the Pre-Event at PRE-FIX (Thanks MCVO) and attended every open house and tech session we could. Dodge/SRT was extremely accessible and candid. We ended our VOI at the Speed GT Race on Belle Isle.

I have NO IDEA how JRThompson Co (NOT an EVENT PLANNER by trade) managed to pull off this 'event within an IRL Race' superimposed inside a 750,000 person Jazz Festival.

This VOI was a TEN in every respect.

Thanks to Dodge Marketing, JRT, Sponsors (VCA, Michelin, Competition Graphics etc) and especially those who paid good money and time attended and 'waved the flag' for the future of the Viper and its enthusiast owners.

Thanks to Bob and the national board for your great leadership, and thanks you to Ralph and everyone at SRT for making a car that we all dream about. It was great spending 5 days surrounded by my Viper family.

This was my second VOI and I had a great time. Lots of fun, lots of memories, lots of really neat things to do and see and I thought that is what VOI's are for. The new friends you make and the fun times you have. The weather played a part in this one so I guess you can blame mother nature for that not the VCA or Chrysler. Have another one and I'll be right there.

We had a GREAT time at VOI this year! It's a wonderful event and we have TONS of great memories from this VOI and the last one we attended. Lots of laughs, good times with good friends, meeting new friends, and of course we got to drive our car- what more could you want!! For me- winning the women's autocross has to be the highlight of my trip! I had no idea I did that good until my name was displayed on the screen- WOW! I was just out there having fun! Driving a viper is definitely addictive and I can't get enough!

Thanks to all who brought their cars, it's always fun to walk through the garage and see all the snakes lined up, and thanks to the VCA for their hard work in planning such a huge event. And BIG THANKS to Chrysler for making this happen! I hope and pray we have more VOIs in the future- we'll be there!!

Bob,
Thanks is just a single word, but to try and express our extreme gratitude for all the work you, the VCA Club officers, and JRT did for VOI-10 could easily take 20-30 paragraphs of praise and still not make a dent in our true expression of pleasure for all the work involved.

Trips to Prefix, Arrow Racing, CAAP and more , was a delight for all the Viper faithful, and Corporate had to be astounded at all the members who traveled from Japan, Switzerland, England, Canada, etc. --- as the pilgrimage to Conner is a holy right of passage for those of the Snake.

The Belle Isle Grand Prix was a nice fitting end to a fantastic event, and watching Cindi Lux, Brian Simo, Jeff Courtney, Jason Daskalos, and Fred Roberts wheel around the island park track was a great time to see the World Challenge Comp Coupes in action ---- now if we can only get SCCA to get rid of the oppressive restrictions they have seen fit to impose of late , sapping the power of the Serpent Speedster.

The comraderie was fantastic and thanks to all the folks who sponsored booths and the myriad of events at VOI ---- can't wait for number 11 and with all the enthusiasm ,we, the members of VCA , showed Chrysler, who knows they may have to question the sale of their marque machine after all.

Long Live the King of Power!!:2tu::2tu::2tu:

On behalf of the Kansas City club, let me add our sincere thanks to Bob Carroll, the rest of the national officers, JRT, Chrysler, and everyone else who made VOI-10 a reality! :2tu:

I recall very well the discussions at, and for well over a year after, VOI-9 regarding whether there would even be a VOI-10 (or a Viper for that matter). Not only did they pull this off, but they did so in style! Sure, there were minor glitches, and weather no one could control, but the event as a whole was terrific!

Chris Marshall promised to see us at VOI-11. Can we make our reservations now?

Best regards, Bill C.

Wow - what an event.

It was absolutely incredible being able to see everyone in Detroit. Meeting new folks (Mike and Holly) seeing "old" friends - (Jeff, Jon, Marko and a host of other Viper Days and Viper Racing League folks, Pemberton), the SRT folks, the Chrysler folks, Ralph, Chris and Mary, Bob, Lee, folks from Evernham, Woodhouse - both Bob and ESPECIALLY Louise and a bunch of other folks I haven't mentioned here.

I had the opportunity to drive an '08 and it solidified our decision to order an ACR.

An incredible car - but moreso - an incredible group of owners and friends.

Just awesome.

Thanks, Fiona and JRT and all our FRIENDS at Chrysler - the event was AWESOME.

This was my first VOI as this is my first Viper and I had a blast. I didnt get to do the Milan track event because it was rained out and was disappointed by that. I did however get to have a long chat with Kraig Courtney who heads up the engine design team for the Viper.

I even got my mug supposedly in the Viper Owners magazine. At least that is what I was told. Anyone have a copy of that mag that covered the VOI? Would love to see it.

Anyway I had a blast. Met lots of good people. While I suspect that was the last manufacturer sponsored VOI, I hope it continues in some capacity. I realize it wouldnt be at that magnatude as Chrysler really put out the bucks, probably knowing it would be the last hurrah. I do hope however that it continues either through the VCA or some other way.
