The post I placed here for the GenI dash I had for sale was deleted after getting an email about it from Jay Herbert. I could understand if I was a retailer trying to make money, but I'm not. I'm a car collector with a few hard to find GenI car parts that aren't being used, hence the reason for giving fellow snake collectors the opportunity to get the parts cheaply for less than they're worth.

I don't give a rats ass about trying to sell a few car parts. It's the fact that there seems to be selective enforcement of the rules. Some people can post ads here and I guess some cannot. I thought this board was for Viper collectors to help each other. What BS.

AMEN TO THAT BROTHER.

Don't gotta tell me, I just got off my 30 ban because of "selective enforcement".

I agree Jimster. I would like to see owners able to post an occasional spare part on this forum without being deleted. And you are correct, many do. BS indeed.

Agreed.. So if your thread subject is a period ' . ' , that can stay. As well as all kinds of other dribble. What is the board for then? It's not like there's lot of techical questions being posted anymore. Maybe the problem is if you're not a VCA member and they want the revenue from your paid ad? Or the sponsors (if there are any) on the classifieds pages wanting their money's worth.

Not that I have any firsthand knowledge of this particular case...but let me interject, at the very least, something to the discussion.

Generally speaking, advertising is not allowed. Sure, you will see some, typically by site sponsors...which is part of their deal. Sure, you will see some, by VCA Members...but "MOST" of the time the little "ad" is accompanied by a link to their FREE ad in the classifieds. Historically, we have always allowed those to stay for a spell.

I did not see Jay's e-mail....but based on the fact that you did not put it in the Classifieds, and therefore did not have a link to your ad in your post (I just reviewed it), there was no "selective enforcement" IMHO.

I have done this many time...and had you been a VCA Member I would have asked you to place a FREE ad in the Classifeds and add the link to your post.

Whats more....you were provided the same courtesy as ANYONE else....your post was up for 4 days....and your last line was "bump...........waiting for payment. If it doesn't happen tomorrow its for sale again". At THAT point I, too, would have said that it is time to use the FREE Classifieds (for VCA Members).

The bottom line is that you were not "wronged", though I am sorry you feel that you were. Maybe at some point we can set up some sort of "Parts Bin" forum for trading amongst owners.

This may have been answered before, but why don't we have a for-sale forum? I realize how simple the current setup is to use, but it is a royal pain when your log-on doesn't work.
