Jon,
You always bring up that bit about rocks and blades and used tires. I have to say that I consider it a pretty weak argument for a tire service to use, because that's the business they are in and blades are a consumable.
Of all the OE tires that have come on Vipers since Day 1, the XGT-Z has the most pronounced siping, followed by the new Sports and finally, the MXX3. A tire service that won't excercise reasonable due dilligence to spin the tire and spend a few seconds pulling out a few embedded stones before peeling black spaghetti off the tire - and then ******* about broken blades - doesn't deserve the business in the first place. Viper tires are about as easy as they come for spotting and pulling rocks out of the tread. Some normal passenger car tires have enough siping to hold a half a pound in each one. You could always offer to help.....
Joe, I say go for it - definitely! Sorry I can't give a specific recommendation for your neighborhood, but try some heavy truck tire and frame shops in the area. In San Antonio, we have a great shop that will shave & spin balance (on the car) tires on anything from a midget sprint car to a Peterbilt.
