Tommy Archer to drive in next years SCCA Trans-Am series

Autoweek Magazine Nov. 13,2000 pg. 47. Tommy will pilot the Cinjo Racing Viper, Team owner Joe Franchida, Archer's last Trans-Am race was 1994.

I guess I am waiting to hear more about this effort. Will this be a competition modified street car, or a purpose built tube frame with a fiberglass ( maybe carbon fiber) funnycar type body. I had heard that when Don panoz took over the series his goal was to make the cars more production car based just like the original cars which started the series in 1966. In that same Autoweek issue on the preceeding page there is a report that Riley and Scott will be introducing a new version (mark 6?)of a TransAm chassis.
