You guys are not going to believe this. In light of all the debate going on about which superchargers are better, the Roe charger or the Paxtons, I said to hell with it; I am simply going to ask the tuners themselves. I emailed one of the most respected tuners that installs nothing but Paxtons on Vipers. I asked him, all things being equal if two same year Vipers raced in the 1/4 mile and one had a Paxton and one had the Roe, he said the Roe supercharged car would win b/c it makes more overall power under the curve. He did go on to say that Paxton equipped cars are street legal and hold value better, but I know most of you are like me and dont give a damn about resale value or smog n fog. Whaddya think?

From what I heard if two gen 3 cars race with blowers only the paxton cars will win!!! There is no other blower out now!!!!!!!

Cute Viper D

Steve, I would not be too concerned about the revs when at peak power. We can be there so little of the overall time it really does not matter. But I do agree with the valvetrain weakness. Especially the Gen III.

The Roes main advantage I believe is the tip-in torque when cruising. You need not downshift to get a real rush. But thankfully a stock Viper has enough torque available that a lack of low end torque is not an issue no matter which way you go.

I just wish it would get warm enough so we could stop the benchracing and go out and have some fun.

Yes, but near constant torque between 3000 rpm and 6000 rpm. Between 580 and 620 lb-ft through that range. oops, maybe that is why I can spin my tires also :)

ok, Sylvan SRT I talked to the guys in the site and gave the all the info they need to change my title from Enthusiast to Owner...it will be nice to be a real member! Getting my car cleaned this Sat for the pics.
Anyway, on my 04 SRT I have the Belanger headers and full exhaust and VEC 3, hi flo filters, etc; my tech, Chuck Tator says I should be at around 580 hp now. I am also interested in the lighter fly wheel set up, but my tech is against them, saying he has seen severe damage from these things, including one slicing through the cockpit and almost slicing off a guys foot. I will go w/ the Roe, but I am curious, what do you guys think about doing head work and a more aggressive cam; any suggestions? I would like to get up to around 760-780 hp at flywheel.

I don't doubt that have been some horror stories from flywheels breaking up....but knowing this before I put one on, I called and talked to the Fidanza people. They told me they have never had a failure and that, in fact, they spin their flywheels up to 14,000 RPM (might have been 17K--don't remember). This is higher than steel flywheels are tested at. There have been steel flywheel failures as well---also causing serious injury.

Armed with that information, I put one in 3.5 yrs and 34,000 miles ago. I consider it one of the better mods I've done. There is absolutely no driveability issues with it. The Viper is probably the easiest clutch car I've ever driven. Gobs of torque stock -- the lighter flywheel has no bearing on taking off from a start. There is much discussion in here about the merit of the lighter flywheel. Drag guys don't like it(Although the Fidanza people will argue the HP/TQ argument). Road race guys do. Quicker revs/better braking.
