As I row through the gears it occurs to me I would need to be doing 125 to really feel good in 6th gear. Could you all give some speeds that you run at and what gear you use? I am getting a lot of resonance which means I am in to high of a gear I think.

What year is your Viper? Side pipes have much more res than non-side pipe years. All Vipers have some res. Has your exhaust been modified?

I go into 6th all the time. At 80mph your turning about 1750rpm and unless your racing there's no reason to turn higher. You're saving wear on the engine and keeping it considerably cooler. This is NOT a high reving engine.

But cruisin' in 5th or 6th at 80 and downshifting to third is an unbelievable rush.

Car is a 2000 GTS and I think totally stock. The pipes come out the back not the sides.

I think there was a review in one of the car magazines when the Viper came out that you could just put it in 3rd gear all the time and not worry about shifting.

I sometimes will start out in 2nd. I usually use 4rth on the freeway. I use 2nd and 3rd for most nonfreeway driving.

Remove the rear muffler. Weld straight pipes, H or X in it's place. Cost about $150 at any muffler shop.

And add cool exhaust tips!!! ;)
