UBBCode on in sigs or not?

When editing my signature, the field indicates that I can use UBB code, however, the [url ][/url ] (spaces added for readability here) are not being interpreted and are showing up on the page. Am I doing something wrong, or is UBB code turned off in signatures and that fact is just not indicated in the edit page?

2) No advertising (please edit your sig).
