I've noticed a lot of mood swings in my gas gauge.
Sometimes it seems to creep down so slowly that I start bragging about the mileage I get.
This afternoon, I took the car to town, 25 miles each way.
I started off with a little over a 1/4 tank. When I got into
town and started dealing with traffic the needle dropped
very quickly and ended up indicating almost empty.
I stopped on the way home to fill the tank, but it took less than eleven gallons ($23.00 Hawaiian $$). The gauge now reads
not quite full. Note, when I filled up, I did rock the car back and forth to make sure there were no air pockets in the filler neck.
Is this normal ?
