Just debating over upgrading the front brakes to the 14" SRT-10 14" version. Is this just a quick bolt on application of the calipers? I have a 00 RT/10 with 18's so I know I can upgrade to the 14" brake kit. Im just debating the cost/performance benefits.

Also I have heard that on the Gen II's, on the caliper where it says "Viper" is usually white. I heard that if that turns yellow, it means the calipers have been over heated before and they need a change??? Anyone...... thoughts? :dunno:

It was almost a badge of courage for track guys to have our brakes turn yellow. If you really used them hard they turned even a darker gold.

Bright white Viper lettering indicated wimpy driving. : >)

And they look good besides stopping better. I just did that. Using Dave's Big Brake kit, doing the fronts is a snap. Here is a link to the conversion process and a pic of the end result:

Thanks fellas. I was hoping to get the answers you provided. Looks like this is my next mod along with the Eibach Springs and caps I have, still in the box.

Hey Dave, what's the cost of your front upgrade kit delivered to 32277??? Just wanna get some prices. I see SVS has a set of calipers and I could get rotors anywhere... Just curious.

Are you sure those rotors are on correctly? I seem to recall the slots should be facing the other direction.

It seems to depend on the Mfr.

My EBC's which these appear to be as well, clearly stated to mount them as shown (they are stamped left and right).

My understanding is the the internal cooling vanes should be oriented so that hot air is directed/flung out towards the tire and not pushed down towards the wheel hub which would happen if the vanes scooped into the air.

That may or may not correlate to the outside slots I suppose. I notice that Brembo for instance always seems to have the slots going the opposite way.
