Upgraded rear axle??

Anyone know if there is a stronger rear axle? Isn't the Gen II a super dana 44? and isn't the dana 44 used in Vettes? I would think there would be some hardened gears and internals that someone makes

I remember talking to JonB (partsrack) some time ago and he said Unitrax had a micro polished rear end (whatever that is) I'm just looking to upgrade the rear as a preventative measure so it don't grenade. Primarily for drag racing w/ET streets and stock 3.07 gear. I also know many have run many, many times with no breakage but I'd rather upgrade than be sorry.

PS I've already upgraded the half shafts

2001 and newer have larger 7/16" ring gear bolts.

2000 and older have 3/8"

I've never broken the stock rear. Just u joints. 1.45 sixty
