Hi Ron and Va/Md Viper club members,
I went over just in case anyone showed up. Jason
Mills and Rob (?) from Ellicott City, both blue
w/ white stripes, 96 and 97, rolled in. I couldn't
get Jason, the phone he sent did not work, but he and
his wife Marcie came, and we had a good lunch. Then
Rob (?) drove by and came in, said he saw the info
online, was going to join the club. It was great
weather, no rain, so we decided to go on the drive as
a 'test run' for next Sat, Apr 20th. 795 is a nice
open expressway, and we had a 'spirited' run up to rt
91, where Rob turned back for home, said he'd be back
Sat.
Jason and I continued on 140 to Westminster, traffic
opened up a bit and we did also.
We pulled into the Plum Diner after driving through
Westminster, parked right in front of the Diner. My
son dropped in to join us. I had given both Tony
Roma's manager John White and the Plum Diner manager
Gary heads up that we were postponing til next Sat,
but both were very pleased with 3 and 2, with a
possible dozen or more next Sat. Gary even thought he
might try and get the Carroll County Times to cover
next Sat.
Jason and Marcie left for shopping back to Owings
Mills mall, and my son and I had lunch and I came back to
Owings Mills, only ran through one patch of a hundred
yards or so of wet pavement where it had
sprinkled. A few spots on the windshield.
All in all, we had a very good 'mini-mini lunch and
cruise' - a practice run. All said they would be back
this Saturday.
Sunday, Maumi and I drove up to Monkton ( near Gus'
new house) for Sunday brunch - a great place called
the Manor Tavern - in the middle of Hunt Valley, hunt
/ horse country in northern Balt County. Clear,
partly sunny, great country road cruising. I would
suggest to Gus/club that we have another luncheon
meeting there. When we pulled in, the MG Club of
Baltimore was there! About 30 of them, all years and
types, their 25th anniversary meeting.
After a very nice Sunday brunch, they and we spent
a half hour looking over MGs and of course the GTS,
hood up, doors open, sit in, etc. I just painted the
under hood snake red with blue and white trim.
Maumi and I left a nice group of MG folks there,
enjoyed another fun drive back to Owings Mills, about
25 miles.
I took a few digital photos of both days' if
interested.
All in all a very nice Viper weekend !
Let's hope the 20th is even better!
