As they say, in for a penny, in for a pound. With the decals on the sides all done (another coat of wax to shine them up a bit more), it was time to focus on the interior. Now there is only ONE Viper vendor I would go to for these mods and that is, of course, MGW LTD. Never a disappointment from George with his incredible craftmanship. And this was no exception.
I give you the BEFORE picture of my interior:
Not bad, and that yellow is pretty trick in these cars. But even with the yellow it seems to be a little bit plain. At VOI 8 when I could finally fight my way through the crowds at MGW's booth, I asked George about making black accents such as the bezels, trim rings, etc. He thought it was an interesting idea, but after getting back to his shop he determined that the chrome would work with the yellow as well if not better. Not to mention the cost of fabricating black trim for less than 50 potential customers. Knowing that George has never steered me wrong, I took the plunge and went with the chrome. I give you the AFTER picture:
Now I thought the chrome looked a bit bright on my black SRT. Gorgeous to be sure, but the brushed aluminum look worked a little better for me on that car. On this car the brushed aluminum can't compete with that gloss yellow. They are fighting for attention and the brushed aluminum just looks kinda dull by comparison - scroll back up and look at the shift bezel in the BEFORE picture and you will see what I mean. When you add the chrome accents on the brighter interior it compliments it all the way.
I never got the opportunity to buy the gauge bezels, as they came out when I was between Vipers. I was pleasantly shocked to see how much they completed the look on this yellow interior. And fit perfectly too!
Of course a few of you are still hanging on that AFTER picture and saying, hey - what is up with that shift knob?! As we all know, George is a perfectionist and never rests as he constantly works on new and improved products. Knowing how much I like the First Strike knob (check out the height difference in the BEFORE and AFTER pictures), George sold me on the latest with the matching 3-D Fangs logo on top. Pretty awesome, eh?
The end result was a much more "complete" looking interior where every piece seems to compliment the look of the interior itself. The yellow is pretty darn flashy to begin with, and the chrome just seems to bring it all together. Sorry, TRIPLE CHROME according to the packaging it came in.
Once again my hat is off to the masters at MGW Ltd. They once again prove the fact that one of the most incredible track cars on the planet can be just as stunning at your local car show. Thanks George!!
Chris
PS. For those that haven't noticed, one of the biggest (and only) changes for the 2005 model year is the radio. It is totally different, including the main volume knob. And so MGW is slaving away on a NEW triple chrome radio knob that will work with this new radio. Definitely on my purchase list!
