Usually when I'm in Vegas, I get a rental car and valet it everywhere. Tip for you guys with rental cars in vegas that might not know: Self-Park is for chumps. Valet parking everywhere in vegas is FREE, except for a couple dollars in tips.

Going to Vegas in a few weeks with my best friend, and considering driving the Viper there which puts me in an odd position. No one wants to hand viper keys over to a valet, but the self-park lots in vegas hotels are huge and no one is accountable for the condition of the cars. Any tips on where to leave the snake in the hotels, or do most hotels have special considerations for exotics?

I would like to know this too..
I am also going to Vegas this summer in my snake and I'm not happy about handing my keys to some dude at a hotel.

considering all the super-exotic cars you typically see in vegas, i would imagine that the hotels on strips must have sp accommodations.

Actually... you dont see THAT many exotics there... mostly rentals and minivans. I saw a old balding guy valet a ferarri once with his trophy girlfriend. But the valet looked like any other pimpled faced valet.

I guess the question is, is it better off being driven by a valet but stored in a secured lot, or only driven by you in a public lot?

What hotel are you staying at? Could you call them and ask them about their "accomodations"?

That's what I would do, but do post what you find out, because I would like to cruise out to Vegas in the near future too.

if ya stay in a nice hotel like bellaggio they have a nice clean, safe spot to park the car with other exotics.

its in the area under the walkway to the left of the hotel. it is a closed in area.

The Bellagio was where I saw the ferarri guy. Thing is, I plan on cruising to different hotels (Mandalay, Mirage, Wynn, Ceasars, etc). Guess i'll have to call all of them to see what their policy is on exotics.

It sounds like there might be a few of us going to Vegas.. Why not see if there is a date we can meet (a Viper meet that is), just to talk some Viper language for half a day or so :) That could be fun and a good way to meet eachother over a cold beer..

Personally I'm going from the 17th of june to roughly the 25th of june (dates are not totally solid yet). Anybody else in Vegas at that time?

I will be in Vegas the 23rd to 26th without Viper. The only person I will be talking snakes with cost 20 bucks for every 5 minutes.
I am going for a bachelor party and I have a feeling it is going to be a long one. I think a round of golf will be the only legal thing I do that entire weekend.

Tell them you are only going inside for a few minutes to an hour and ask if they can park it out front for you. That way you have several hundred people watching the car and no chance for them to run it around the block. By the time they realize your over your hour or two they are off shift. Most of the time, they will want to park the higher end cars in front, usually under the overhang. This has always worked well for me.

You could also track the car with, I believe, a viper car alarm.

Good luck!

1) Don't leave your Viper in casino garages/parking lots

2) There is no special consideration for exotics - BTW: they get many more expensive cars than ours pulling up to casino valet drives

3) If you tip enough the valet will leave your car right in front and no one will move it from where you leave it

4) A "couple bucks" is not a big enough tip - we're talkin' like $20 at the strip places $15 or so at smaller places. If you tip a "couple bucks" they're going to think you're a cheap-ass and I wouldn't want the service you may get.

5) They're wise to predator's trick - thus you're taking a chance with your car. BTW: valet shifts are 8 hours and their start times depends on the casino. Note that there is not one uniform shift time for everyone in the casino. i.e.: a valet shift may start at noon while a bartender shift starts at 2.

I self parked at the MGM which is monitored by cameras. I put on the car cover which was locked under the car, then I switched off the "kill switch". None of this stopped me locking my keys in the trunk later, but that's another story. :(

I would tip them and have them park it in front of the casino. If you werent going to be there long some casino garages are not as full and you can take up several spots and they are all monitored, but since you will be staying at the casino have it up front.

I also agree that the front is the only place for your car. If I were taking my viper, parking in front would be mandatory or I would find a different casino. But to be honest, I don't take my car anywhere I can't view it, so a Vegas trip with the Viper would not happen.

Did I miss something? It's a car meant to be driven. I take mine everywhere in South Florida and valet park it, give them a 20 and it stays up front or I tell them if they hit something, put it in reverse and hit them again cuz I don't want the car back. If I had to “see” my car every time I went somewhere I would never be driving the car. Just my 2 cents. I know a lot of you will freak out that I have the car valet parked but who cares - it’s a car.

A long time ago I used to be a valet working my way through college at Pete & Lenny's in Ft. Lauderdale.

Vipper Rich makes a good valid point. Give them a twenty spot and have it parked right upfront.

To this day I do it with all my cars, including the soon to be lonely daily drivers.

Though to be truthful, I'm still scared to take my New yellow beast anywhere without me being in it at all times.

Just got back from Vegas. Went to many casinos both on and off the strip. Used valet at all of them, no problems. At the hotels on the strip tipped 20 bucks and asked to have the Viper parked up front. They even moved a Corvette to make room. The host at MGM told me that the valet jobs are so lucrative and hard to come by that no valet would risk their job violating the strict no "joyriding" policy. Take the Snake and have a ball. Try to avoid the strip on weekend nights. BAD traffic. Its faster to walk, but a great place to be seen. Good Luck!

I agree with Moparman. Pay the 20 bucks to park in front.
Avoid the "Cheezy Hotels" and you will be fine. Don't let valet park your car under any circumstances. I've known a few valets and yes, some can't resist stepping on the gas.

Alot of the casinos now have a maximum damage policy whereby if a valet causes over a certain amount in damage to the cars (for example $2000) he/she is immediately terminated.

Also, the valet jobs (especially swing and grave shifts on the strip) are very lucrative with many making six figures. At one point a buddy of mine was trying to get a valet shift at the MGM (his mom had worked there for years) and was saving the money to spiff the manager for the position.

I rented a 1997 GTS in Vegas (years before actually buying my RT-10) and parked it up front at Ceasers. The car was kept up front for everyone to see and I got to keep the keys. The car got more looks than the Bentley parked right next to it. In fact at one point there were about 10 people surrounding the car taking pictures and posing next to it. I even have a photo of people posing next to it. It was awesome.

Any tips on where to leave the snake in the hotels, or do most hotels have special considerations for exotics?

Two hotels come to mind,

First NEVER EVER give your viper keys to anyone, I dont care how big the hotel is. The guy driving it WILL make sure to have some fun in your car at least on the way to or from the lot. And as we all know all it takes is one loss of traction and your car is in a post.

Now back to hotels,

Ceasars has a great parking lot which is visible from the center tower. If you park your car on the roof of the lot, you can see your car from your room very easily. Ask them when you call, for a room they will know which tower and lot it is.

You can also pay the valet and they will let you park the car yourself in their valet lot out front. I have done this in the past several times, if they hastle you just stick a 20 in their hand and all hesitation is gone.

Luxor has a good enclosed parking lot, but you cant see your car and are relying on their security. But in the past I have never had any problems with it.
