Prior to buying the Viper, I had just bought a Sony HDD video camera. Once I got the viper, I thought I would be able to use it for the events. I tried one of those suction mounts for the rear glass, problem is the HDD cameras shut down if there is too much vibration. Being attached to the glass, anytime I start up it shuts off.

I thought about putting the camera in a bag and buying a bullet cam, but you need analog inputs, which, I, of course, don't have.

The question is whether there is anyway to make this camera work or am I SOL and buying yet another camera?

You need a rock solid camera mount and a camera with stability control for best results. I use a mount from Dean Ward. It attaches to the sear belt anchor on the passenger side so the camera sits just over the bulk head between the seats. It was not the easiest install but it was worth it.

PS: I don't know if it is still available since I put mine in a few years ago.
