I just checked out the ferrari site you gave us as a link. Are they going to enforce the driving suit and gloves rule?

To run in the open group yes they do. I spent half a day looking to borrow a suit 2 years ago. Now I have my own.

Thanks. On the site it basically says that all groups except the novice. Is that accurate in your experience or is it just the race group they require to wear suits and gloves?

My son and I are doing One Lap of America and it
starts on April 30th. You wait all winter for these events
and then scheduling conflicts

I just read the info packet, and it's a bit confusing to me. I would fall in the "white" group (6-12 previous track days), but it says the speed limit for the "white" group is 80mph, strictly enforced. Is that correct, or am I mis-reading? I've not been to Pocono so only know what I see on TV, but 80mph speed limit seems low. Even as a beginner I was able (and encouraged) to hit triple digits on the straights at Watkins Glen and Summit Point.

NO WAY that is correct. Green is the beginner group, always was, and even they hit 120-30 at least. I'd re-read, or check thier site.

Hope I can make it.

Sounds like fun! Are spectators allowed? Last time I drove down to Pocono for an event I was turned back by the guy at the gate. Is there some kind of pass I need? Thanks a lot!

Kurt,

Not sure why you were turned away.
Next time just sign the waiver at the enterance.
There should be no problem going to watch friends at
this event.

I saw that too Gus. It doesn't make sense to me that they identified the white group specifically. I would the think the Green group would be the most regulated.

Is this a Viper Ferrari only event or will there be other cars there as well?

I placed a couple of calls to the event coordinaters
to get some answers to your questions about speed restrictions
and required driving suits. I have attended this event the last 4 years
and there were no speed restrictions then. Possibly in the green novice group.
As soon as I hear back I will update you all.

Viper / Ferrari Wars update:

I spoke to Barry Smith, Chief Instructor from FOCNER this morning and expressed some of your concerns. Here's what he said.

1. Based on experience you will be placed in run groups. If you
require an instructor you will be placed in Green. Speed may/will
be restricted based on experience in the Green group.

2. There will not be an 80 mph restriction. He will look into how this
got into there documentation.

3. Driving Suits...Not required in Green and White, recommended in Blue
and required in Red

Hope this clears thing up.

On events like this one, if it rains is the event cancelled? rescheduled? or money refunded? OR do they run in the rain?

Rain or shine, most owners park there car when it rains. Pilot Sports are very good in the wet, the other two previous versions down right **** in wet conditions and I would park my car if I had those on also. It is one of the gambles you take signing up.
