Went to firebird raceway in Boise ID last night and ran into vette. the guy told me it was a 92 with a L71 with 140 shot. His three passes were 12.25 @122,12.32@121,and 12.37@123.">12.37@123. Mine were 12.68@115,12.51@116,and <a href="mailto:12.55@117. How are you giy's getting 11.9 and 12.0 at 119 to 120. Is it temp, track, elavation,or driver. He did say that the track wasnt that good last night ,he should of been running 11.80.????? I think I need some mods.

Its all in the 60 foot !

Altitude is certainly a factor, but a killer 60' time will really make a huge difference in the 1/4 mile time. When Jason Heffner did a 9.90 @ 143+ in my car, his 60' time was 1.468!

That 60' looked like 6'!! Amazing launch - I broke MY neck just watching it! :)

(I am so jealous of you right now...have fun in that sucker and post those initial giggles as soon as you get your hands on her!)

In the case of the original poster, the problem is altitude. I belive Boise is around 2800', which will knock several MPH off your speed. The rest, as has been pointed out, is launch.

And yes, Jason's 60' was unreal to see on video. I've never seen a Viper come off the line that quickly. Now I have to go try to do it myself :)

And tape it! Can't wait to see the SRT running with the stage 1 mods... :)

Ah, I won't be trying that maneuver in the SRT. They don't make 19" tires in the right compound, the gearing's wrong, and the CV shafts would snap like twigs.

I will, however, run the SRT on tape one of these days. I'll fearlessly predict 11.8 @ 125 once I've gotten a few practice runs.

SRT hasn't been to the track yet - all the local ones are NHRA, which means I'll get at best 1-2 passes before they ban me :( It's almost enough to make me put a rollbar in the car... but my wife would never agree, and it's her car.

Well for what it's worth, I had some work done on the car and ran a 11.90 at 127 MPH. The track is NHRA and they said no more till I get rollbar ect. Got the bar in this week (thanks to Tom at BTR) and I will be back out Saturday. If it's worth a post,I will update on Sunday.

I did exactly the same 11.9@127MPH, and was told to slow down as well. :p

Ben, have you taken the yellow beast back to Sac yet?

It would also be fun to see the SRT-10 run. Maybe you can play the game of "Look I'm running 12s now (quick-11) look, I'm still running 12s...see, then (quick-11)". Although that ploy might be more easily done with the Mercedes than the SRT-10 Viper. ;)

I should say you did do some work on the car. Is that mph a result of NOS?

ps - get some tires. you won't regret it.
